On May 3rd, 2024, we celebrated the placing of two bronze plaques honoring two treasured leaders of the Friends of the Napa River. The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Copia generously allowed the placement of these two testaments to extraordinary leadership on their property and situated perfectly to give visitors an inspiring view over the Napa River and the Oxbow Commons Park.
Moira Johnston Block was the Founding President of Friends in 1994. Her memorial reads:
As Founding President of Friends of the Napa River, Moira was a key leader in convincing the Corps of Engineers to craft our “Living River” Flood Project, which has improved our river’s health and led to the revitalization of downtown and creation of Oxbow Commons.
Bernhard Krevet led Friends over those following twenty-five years; his plaque reads:
Through his nearly three decades of leadership and now as President-Emeritus of Friends of the Napa River, Bernhard was a highly effective and deeply respected voice for protection and enhancement of the Napa River, its watershed, and our “Living River” Flood Project.
Over eighty friends, family, and community leaders came together to celebrate these two heroes and to share stories and memories of how our community came together and created something extraordinary, the “Living River”.
